Location: Montreal, QC
Date: March 14, 2026
Organization: WKB Canada (Ontario Branch)
On March 14th, WKB Canada traveled to Montreal for the 2026 KWU Senshi Gold Cup. This was a historic event, marking the largest competition ever held in North America with over 750 participants from 80 dojos.
Our Ontario Branch, led by Shihan Steve Fogarasi along with coaches Senpai Mici Fogarasi and Senpai Chris Wharton-Hood, sent a team of 11 competitors. The team included kids, teens, and adults competing in both Kata and Kumite. Our roster featured a mix of first-time competitors, returning athletes, and tournament regulars.
The competition was very tough this year, with some divisions having up to 25 competitors. Our team performed as expected with some wins and some losses, but this is the true spirit of competition. In our organization, we teach that you must learn to accept the result, learn from it, and improve. The dedication, discipline, and experience gained are what really matter.
Overall, we are very satisfied with the results and the spirit shown by our team. Well done to everyone.
