On March 14, 2026, WKB Canada traveled to Montreal, Quebec, to take part in the prestigious KWU Senshi Gold Cup. This event marked a historic milestone as the largest Kyokushin competition ever held in North America, gathering over 750 participants from more than 80 dojos.
The Ontario Branch, led by Shihan Steve Fogarasi, together with coaches Senpai Mici Fogarasi and Senpai Chris Wharton-Hood, proudly sent a team of 11 competitors. The team included kids, teens, and adults competing in both Kata and Kumite divisions.
Our roster featured a mix of first-time competitors, returning athletes, and seasoned tournament fighters. The level of competition was extremely high this year, with some divisions reaching up to 25 participants.
The team performed as expected, achieving both victories and defeats. However, in our organization, we emphasize that true success lies beyond medals. Students are taught to accept results, learn from each experience, and continue improving.
The dedication, discipline, and growth demonstrated by every competitor are what truly define the spirit of Kyokushin.
Overall, we are very satisfied with the results and especially proud of the spirit shown by our team throughout the competition.
Well done to everyone.
